Integration Methods for Connecting to the SocialTalent Platform
Various integration methods are available for clients to connect to the SocialTalent platform.
User Authentication (SSO)
User Provisioning Automation (SCIM API)
LMS Integrations
a. File Transfer Integration
i. Content Integration
ii. Course completion reports
b. XApi
1. User Authentication (SSO)
Single Sign-On (SSO) is an authentication process that allows users to access multiple applications with a single set of login credentials. It enhances user convenience and security, reducing the need for multiple passwords.
SSO is crucial in enterprise environments for efficient identity and access management. SocialTalent supports the SAML 2.0 standard to enable SSO.
Setting up SSO with SocialTalent is straightforward and can be done by following our help article.
SSO is a prerequisite for the following Provisioning Methods:
SCIMAPI
SelfRegistration
Please see the Provisioning Methods documentation for more details.

Average implementation time - 1 week.
2.User Provisioning Automation (SCIM API)
SocialTalent’s SCIM 2.0 API provides a RESTful interface for user identity management, enabling customers to automate user provisioning on the SocialTalent platform. The SCIM API can be integrated with customers’ existing Identity Provider systems such as Okta, Azure AD, or OneLogin. Once integrated, customers can add SCIM API to their employee onboarding workflows, automating user creation on the SocialTalent platform whenever a new employee is hired.

SSO is a prerequisite for setting up SCIM API.
Average implementation time - 2-3 weeks.
3.LMS Integrations
a. FileTransfer Integration
i. Content Integration
SocialTalent’s content is accessible via deep links. That means to start or resume learning on a particular piece of content, all you need to do is click on the unique link for that content. This deep link capability facilitates an integration of the SocialTalent library to other learning systems using file exports. On our side, we generate a CSV file containing links, descriptions and other attributes related to our courses and export them to a server. Here they can be scooped up and loaded onto your learning system.
ii. Course completion reports
SocialTalent offers the option to share learning statistics back to your centralised learning system. This can be achieved by exporting a CSV file with the statistics to an STFP server. SocialTalent integrates with most major LMSs like SuccessFactors, Cornerstone and SumTotal to transfer content and completion.
More details on content and course completion integration can be found here.
Average implementation time - 2-3 months 5

b. XApi
The Experience API (xAPI), also known as Tin Can API, is a specification for learning technology that enables learning systems to capture a wide range
of learner activities. xAPI records these activities in the form of “statements,” which are then stored in a Learning Record Store (LRS). Each statement follows a “noun, verb, object” structure, such as “John completed the course.” This flexibility allows xAPI to track diverse learning experiences across different platforms and contexts.
For SocialTalent, integrating xAPI with customers’ Learning Management Systems (LMSs) can enhance the tracking of learner engagement and performance. By using xAPI, we can ensure seamless data exchange with the customers’ LRS. This integration facilitates detailed analytics and reporting, providing deeper insights into learners’ course completions and enabling real- time completion reporting.
Ultimately the plan is phase out File Transfer Integration, and replace it with xAPI.
Average implementation time - 1 week
